flash drive troubleshoot

need help in formatting flash drive? Does it work on any other computers? That would be the first thing I would check, it could be a bad pen drive, if it does work however then It may be your usb port. there are two different types. USB1 and USB2, Most pen drives require USB2 to work correctly.
Try pluging it into a different USB slot where you have something plugged in that you know works. If the pen is broken then the usb port is likely not recognizing it.

If your ports are USB2, and you cannot format the pendrive it may be that windows' format utility is unable to, I would check the website of the pen drive manufacturer and see if they have a specific utility to format the pendrive, I had that trouble once a couple years back and the company had a special format utility I had to download to be able to format mine.
