Gambling is never considered as a good habit and even I don’t play it for money or don’t suggest anyone to have the habit of gambling. But like the coin has two parts, good and bad, gambling too has some good part. I sometimes play online poker games just to pass the boring time but not for money, just the online points. The point of playing game has been making friends around the globe and passing time. I came through GambleRuler.com recently and they have featured all legit free to play online slots and they also have good reviews for games that a certain site offers. They also have a lot of helpful tips for the first time gamers who are interested on trying online casinos.

The website actually is a ratings guide to the best online slot machines, online casinos, poker rooms, and gaming sites on the web. They have a professional team that has been wagering at online casino sites since 2001 and they know which casinos are reputable through personal experience. They have a lot of reviews on poker rooms as well but playing at casinos online has always been their main focus. They have the best online gambling recommended on their website. I find that their reviews will surely help the new players understand and play the games online.

At last, I again emphasize that gambling should never be practiced for money but for fun!

Iris Rañola and Rubilen Amit making headway in world billiards

Written by Ms. Confuse on Tuesday, September 30, 2008

The Philippines’ top women billiards players, Iris Rañola and Rubilen Amit, are making big strides in the world of pool. After only a few years in the sport, Iris and Rubilen are now eyeing a much bigger stake, that of joining the handful of women billiards greats. I say that is not hard to achieve. They are still young, thus I expect many good years ahead of them. Rañola recently won the Arizona Women’s Billiards Tour in Tucson, nosing out American Emily Wilmoth, 7-6, in the finals. According to RP team coach Boyet Asonto, Wilmoth had asked for a break after a 4-4 stalemate and, when play resumed, the American stormed to a 6-4 lead. But the Philippine bet did not lose heart and squared the count before scoring a dramatic come-from-behind 7-6 victory. A native of Divisoria, Zamboanga, Rañola earlier finished runner-up at the US Women’s Open 9-Ball tournament. A mainstay of Puyat Sports, Rañola also won last year’s national women’s pool championship under the

Amit needs no further introduction. A former call center employee, Amit is the country’s foremost and most popular woman billiards player today. She won two gold medals at the 2005 Southeast Asian Games and finished runner-up to China’s Pan Xiaoting at the 2007 Amway WPA Women’s 9-Ball Championship at the Taipei Gymnasium in Taiwan. On her way to the finals, Amit, now 26, upset two former world champions, Kim Ga-young of South Korea and Allison Fisher of Britain. After her smashing performance, Amit thanked sportsman Aristeo “Putch” Puyat for sponsoring her trip to Taipei; coaches Boyet Asonto and Ramon Ancaja, teammates Mary Ann Basa, Johanna Dee and Rañola for staying by her side; her parents and, most especially, the Lord Almighty for giving her many blessings.

Most people tend to think that being a truck driver is not a job for them. However, those in the business know how interesting the work can be. A decision like this can have a great impact for your family especially if you have never been away from home. In this you can reach a salary of more than $35,000 per year.

Trucking is an interesting job that allows for a lot of travel to different places around the country. To become a truck driver may look easy, but it is not as easy as it seems. You must first be trained in a driving school to get a CDL. This is a prerequisite that all companies have. However, many companies can provide this training as soon you start to work with them. You must also do some research about the services of the companies that interest you. Comparing information can be a useful thing to do as well. Here are some tips that can help you in this process of finding the right company for you.

The choice of a trucking company school or a private truck driving school is a personal one and depends on your unique situation. Sometimes, finding the right truck driving school can be quite a challenge for the newcomer.

There are very few truck driving schools that have achieved accreditation because of the tough standards and the expensive process. So what you should do is find the right one for you and the more near with your house, the more better.

Michele Bumgarner - first woman champ of Rock Island GP

Written by Ms. Confuse on Friday, September 26, 2008

Asian Karting queen Michele Bumgarner made history in the Rock Island Grand Prix in Illinois by becoming the first female champion in the world’s largest street kart racing event. Bumgarner bagged the Tag Seniors crown, also earning her the distinction as the seventh foreign-born winner in the event’s 14-year history. With the victory, the media is now making comparison of her to Danica Patrick, who also emerged the first female champion of Rock Island’s counterpart, the Indy Racing League, last April. The 19 year old bet surprised everyone as a first-timer in the event when she piloted the Margay Team to a 1-2-3-4 finish and clocked 11 minutes and 24.144sec. Teammate Kyle Erdmann came in 0.916sec behind for second place, while Scott Hamble and Brett Johnson finished third and fourth places, respectively.

For years, the Rock Island Grand Prix has been known as a stepping stone to barge into the Indy Racing League (IRL) and has drawn hundreds of entries annually from all over the world, including Argentina, Bermuda, Colombia, Costa Rica, England, France, Italy and Mexico as well as Canada and the United States. “This will stick with me my whole career. Everyone goes on about how great this race is and it’s special that this is my first time here and my first win here. I hope to come back,” said Bumgarner, who credited the support of Margay’s experienced crew that includes crew chief and former RIGP champ Rick Fulks and RIGP’s winningest racer until last year Jason Birdsell. Bumgarner is also backed up by Petron XCS, Spectrum-OSO Asia, Department of Tourism, Molecule, City Kart Racing, Oakley and Goodyear.

“I’ve got fantastic support here,” Bumgarner said. “How could I not be up front?” Even RIGP officials were impressed, predicting a promising racing career for Bumgarner who’s planning to move to Indianapolis to pursue hopes of going the Indy Racing League route by the end of the year. “I think she has a pretty bright career ahead of her, and it depends on how that career goes,” RI Grand Prix president Roger Ruthhart said. “It served us well when Scott Speed went on to Formula One, with him saying how he had been a Rock Island Grand Prix champion. It could be the same thing with Michele.” Bumgarner didn’t come to Rock Island with expectations to win. But the media already speculated her historic feat after posting a top qualifying speed of 33.096 seconds that made her the first female pole-winner in RIGP history. “I didn’t come here intending to be a trailblazer, but it’s an extra perk,” she said. “What I know is, it was going to be a close race to the end.”

Written by Ms. Confuse on Thursday, September 25, 2008

Three Filipino college students won first prize in the recently concluded Asian Science Camp art competition in Bali, Indonesia. Fourth year Bachelor of Science (BS) in Chemistry student Joey Mangadlao of the University of the Philippines (UP)-Diliman, UP-Los Baños (UPLB) Physics student Raymund Lorenzo Abejuela IV, and Elvis Chua, a BS Chemistry student at the Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU), bagged first prize in the poster-making contest. The team bested 50 other groups in the poster-making competition, bagging certificates and three million rupiah (R13,328.18).
The winning poster, entitled, “DNAzymes: Gene Carriers of the Past, Catalysts of the Future,” was inspired by the talk of Rizal Fajar Hariadi of the California Institute of Technology on Molecular Machines Made of and Fueled by DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid).

Mangadlao said the competition made him more eager to pursue a Science career, especially after hearing various Nobel Laureates speak about their accomplishments. Mangadlao won the 3rd Grand Award for Microbiology at the 2005 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in Arizona, United States back in high school for his project, “Biologically Potent Broad Spectrum Antibiotics Obtained from Tetrodoxin-Rich Organs of Puffer Fishes.” Department of Science and Techology (DoST) Science Education Institute (SEI) Director Dr. Ester Ogena said the success of the Filipino students in the competition showcased the Filipino’s talent not just in Math and Science but also in the arts. “Our students’ international exposures enable them to see the real world with their very eyes and we are confident that once they step into it, they too, shall shine,” she said.

The proud province of Bulacan has once again captured the nation’s attention and imagination with its recent bid to put the province’s name in the Guinness Book of World Records by making the World’s Longest Pastillas. Stretching 202.6 meters long and measuring 5 inches in diameter, the record-breaking activity served as one of the highlights of this year’s Singkaban Festival.

The colorful Singkaban Festival offers a window to the Bulakeños’ rich cultural landscape and an opportunity to savor the many celebratory flavors of its cultural diversity. The province choose the pastillas for its distinct and original ingredient--carabao’s milk--and because the product is one of the most famous and saleable Tatak Bulakenyo products.

"[If we make it to] the Guinness [Book of] World [Records] by being the province [with] the longest pastillas, [this will] not only [show] how unified Bulakeños are but also [establish] the good quality of the products of Bulacan," expressed Gov. Jonjon Mendoza during the preparations for the longest pastillas.

I got Pearls

Written by Ms. Confuse on Tuesday, September 23, 2008

I was so excited to receive a strand of freshwater pearls from Pearl-Neckalace-Jewelry.com in the mail a few days ago. I've never had real pearls. One look at these gorgeous black pearl necklace, and I was in love. Of course I had to show to my husband, and do the Pretty Woman snap the box shut thing. I never even had jewelry that came in a fancy box like that. So I've been wearing the pearls around the house, wondering why I never had pearls before. Now I remember - I always thought they were too expensive to even consider, but browsing the Pearl-Necklace-Jewelry.com site, I realize they come in a wide range of prices. And yes, they can be expensive, but Pearl Necklace Jewlery sells them at significant savings over traditional retail. You can choose from freshwater pearl necklace to akoya pearl necklace that came from saltwater in Japan. If you want to buy pearls, this looks like the place to do it. There's also a lot of information on the site about how pearls are formed, the difference between natural and cultured pearls, how to choose pearl size and necklace length, and how to take care of your pearls once you have them.

PEP: Himala is one of CNN-UK's top 18 Asian films

Written by Ms. Confuse on Tuesday, September 23, 2008

Twenty-six years after it was shown in the Philippines, Nora Aunor's Himala is once again in the spotlight. The 1982 Ishmael Bernal film about a faith healer is the only Filipino film that entered the Best Asian Films of all Time chosen by CNN UK (United Kingdom). The writer of this piece, Mairi Mackay, points out that Asia is home to 4 billion people in 70 countries. As such, it responsible for half of the world's film output. The Ishmael Bernal movie is cited for having "austere camera work, haunting score and accomplished performances sensitively portray the harsh social and cultural conditions that people in the third world endure." In Himala (which translates to Miracle), Nora Aunor portrayed Elsa, a simple barrio lass who believes that she has seen apparitions of the Virgin Mary--allowing her to go on a healing crusade in her small town.

Locally, Himala won nine of 11 awards given at the 1982 Metro Manila Filmfest including Best Story/Screenplay, Best Picture, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Editing, Best Cinematography, and Best Production Design. Written by Ricky Lee, this dramatic film also won the Bronze Hugo Award during the 19th edition of the Chicago Film Festival.

ASIA'S BEST.

The other entries are works of acclaimed Asian directors such as Akira Kurosawa (Ikiru, 1952) and Wong Kar-Wai (In the Mood for Love, 2000). CNN grouped New Zealand as part of Asia and came up with 2 entries for this list: Whale Rider (2002) and Utu (1983). Mother India (1957) was nominated for the Best Foreign Language Film of the Academy Awards. Others were shortlisted for the Cannes Film Fest such as In The Mood for Love (2000). Some of the films chosen proved to have a major influence on Hollywood films. Japan's 1998 film Shall We Dansu? is the basis of the 2004 Hollywood flick starring Jennifer Lopez and Richard Gere. A Touch of Zen (1969), a kung fu movie from Hong Kong/Taiwan, had a massive influence on Ang Lee's Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon starring Chow Yun Fat and Michelle Yeoh.

Completing the list are The Ballad of Narayama (1958), The Host (South Korea, 2006), Syndrome and a Century (Thailand, 2006), Still Life (China, 2006), Shower (China, 1999), Infernal Affairs (Hong Kong/China, 2002), Mandala (South Korea, 1981), To Live (China, 1994), When the Tenth Month Comes (Vietnam, 1984), and Gabbeh (Iran, 1996).

Orcollo bags Guinness 9-Ball crown in Guangzhou

Written by Ms. Confuse on Monday, September 22, 2008

The Philippines' Dennis Orcollo improved on his runner-up finish in the Singapore leg of the Guinness 9-Ball Championships by winning the Guangzhou, China stop by beating Chinese-Taipei’s Wang Hung Hsiang in the finals, 11-7. Orcollo whipped the “Son of Pool” Yang Ching Shun in the semis after compatriot Alex “The Lion” Pagulayan. Incidentally, Pagulayan defeated Orcollo in Singapore. Pagulayan, meanwhile, blew a great chance for an all-Filipino final when he lost a 9-8 heartbreaker to Wang that was a mixture of some spectacular shots and forgettable errors. On Pagulayan's part, his gambles backfired during safety battles.

In the final battle, Wang took a 2-1 lead. Orcollo then ran off six of the next seven racks to lead 7-3 after a breathtaking safety battle marked by an incredible safety by the Filipino who is ranked No. 1 in the world. A lucky bank shot on the 1-ball enabled Wang to come to within 5-7 before he broke to get one more rack back to come to within one at 6-7. But Orcollo quickly eased the pressure somewhat to open up a two-rack lead at 8-6 . After Orcollo, who was leading 7-3, squandered his chances with a poor miss on the number 2 ball, Wang who won four of the last five racks closed to within one, 8-7, before the Filipino played a fantastic jump shot to go ahead, 9-7. He then cut the cue ball between the 4 and 6 balls to get to the hill9-7.

Both players felt the pressure and committed a series of errors but when Wang missed a fairly straightforward shot on the 2 ball which would have given him a chance to join Orcollo on the hill at 10-10. Orcollo seized the opportunity to clean up and pocket the top prize of $15,000.

system memory

Written by Ms. Confuse on Friday, September 19, 2008

system memory is different....and also a little more difficult to increase....you can try disabling any open programs...and programs from starting up with windows....but this will only give you so much....what you need to do is buy more memory for your computer. In order to make sure that you choose the correct memory for your computer you will need to check the specifications of your computer (you can do this through the manufacturer's website usually) and purchase the corresponding RAM....

What is Debt Consolidation?

Written by Ms. Confuse on Thursday, September 18, 2008

Family crisis is one of the part of having a family. Everyday necessities is included to everyday life of everyone of us, thats why we work and work more harder to buy and pay every single things we need. What if your pay check is not enough to pay everything? Almost a lot of us use our credit card in time of crisis, in short in need of extra money or if something you need to buy. What if you maxed everything out (your credit card) and now you need to pay your credit card debt. Well, for this matter you need debt consolidation. Then it comes the big question, what is debt consolidation? Debt consolidation is often advisable in theory when someone is paying credit card debt. Sometimes, debt consolidation companies can discount the amount of the loan. When the debtor is in danger of bankruptcy, the debt consolidator will buy the loan at a discount. A prudent debtor can shop around for consolidators who will pass along some of the savings. Consolidation can affect the ability of the debtor to discharge debts in bankruptcy, so the decision to consolidate must be weighed carefully. So you need to choose the risk of consolidating debt. Debt Consolidator can help you in this kind of situation. They have debt consolidators that can easy help you to lower the rates or even paid your debts.

Pichay chess: Big start for So; Roca, Bancod stage upset wins

Written by Ms. Confuse on Wednesday, September 17, 2008

GM Wesley So of the Philippines did not waste time in hurdling his opening-day assignment in the fourth Prospero Pichay Cup international chess championship at the Duty Free Fiesta Mall in Parañaque City on Sunday. So, ever so eager to redeem himself following a so-so performance in the recent President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo Cup, where he finished only 25th, made short work of IM Aleksander Wohl of Australia in 42 moves of the Sicilian Dragon to serve strong notice of his title aspirations before a big crowd. The 14-year-old high school student from St. Francis College of Bacoor, Cavite, who is set to breach the ELO 2600 mark in the coming month, capitalized on Wohl's faulty knight push on the 16th move and came away with a crushing victory with the disadvantageous black pieces. "He (Wohl) made a weak knight move and I took advantage. Magandang simula ito," said the soft-spoken So, who is playing in his fifth straight international tournaments in less than two months. When the end came, So had three unstoppable queening pawns in a bishop versus knight endgame.

Sharing the limelight were IMs Petronio Roca and Ronald Bancod who provided the biggest upset wins for the day. Roca toppled No. 12 seed GM Konstantin Shanava of Uzbekistan in 58 moves of the Sicilian Dragon while Bancod stunned No. 14 seed GM Saidlali Iuldachev of in 57 moves of the Pirc. Three other well-known Filipino campaigners –GMs Mark Paragua, Darwin Laylo and Buenaventura "Bong" Villamayor – also made successful debuts.

Paragua shows top form
Paragua, the second highest-placed Filipino in the PGMA Cup, demolished NM Hamed Nouri in 40 moves of the Philidor, wile Laylo, a member of the Philippine team to the World Chess Olympiad in Dresden, Germany in November, crushed Jayson Salubre in a pair of all-Filipino matches. Villamayor outwitted WIM Irine Sukandar of Indonesia in 55 moves of the Queen's Indian. Top seed GM Murtas Kazhgaleyev of Kazkahstan whipped NM Ernesto Fernandez at the top board to lead the march of the favorites in this prestigious, nine-round tournament organized by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP). Meanwhile, second seed GM Zhang Zhong of Singapore and third seed GM Mikhail Mched lishvili of Georgia also hurdled their opening-day matches, beating Reggie Olay and Amir Mallahi of Iran, respectively. Fourth seed GM Ehsan Ghaem Maghami of Iran settled for a draw with Wang Li of China, while fifth seed GM Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son of Vietnam halved the point with compatriot Nguyen Van Huy.

Newly-crowned PGMA Cup champion GM EugeneTorre begged off from participation at the last minute, saying he is still tired from winning the grueling, nine-round tournament which ended only last Friday. Torre, however, graced the colorful opening ceremony. In other notable results, GM-candidate Julio Catalino Sadorra outplayed Karl Victor Ochoa; GM-candidate John Paul Gomez downed NM Mirabeau Maga; IM Ronald Dableo crushed Xu Tong of China; IM Richard Bitoon humbled Wang Xiaochui of China; IM Barlo Nadera stopped Leonardo Carlos; Deniel Causo trounced Ali Branzuela; Haridas Pascua bested David Elorta; and University of Manila standout IM Chito Garma drew with IM Rolando Nolte; Pichay and GM Zhang Zhong of Singapore made the ceremonial moves during the colorful opening ceremony. Pichay Jr, the driving force behind the revival of Philippine chess in recent years, reiterated his commitment to the annual staging of the event that bears his name. He also said that the Philippines will hold five to six GM tournaments next year as part of the APAC Pro Tour 2008-09.

Help those in need

Written by Ms. Confuse on Tuesday, September 16, 2008

It's good to be selfless and have empathy to those people in need. And not just feeling empathy but empathizing in action. Like giving to charities, sharing to others, and the like. When you are blessed with more in life, you might as well share it to the needy ones. As I was surfing i picked up a site called boat angel and it has to do with donate boat. I do not know how familiar you are with the act of donation especially boat donations for helping the less privileged so here how it goes. In this site you have the opportunity to Donate Boat and then it can be sold and raise money for various charity purposes. Furthermore if the boat is big enough and with funds gathered from other boats it can be used as floating hospitals. I have read a testimony of ship that had 6 full operating theaters 70 hospital beds and over 450 rooms. I must admit it's pretty impressive.
Bear in mind that the Charity Boat Donations comes with a tax reduction. The way to do it is very simple. You call them or fill an application. Then you are sent a receipt and a disposable camera to take photos of the boat. The condition is not important although I assume that there must be some restrictions. After that they take your boat free of charge and if not sold in due time it is kept in a protective environment.
Other then do charity with the purchase or Donate Boats, you can also find some DVDs of the Child Animation absolutely free, with its project website. Other then this, they also completed their AntiDrug use and Documentary Film Latest Anti-Drug to share with public.
What a wonderful charity that could have on this site. Even verhicle also accpeted for the donation. So why waiting for, there are many survivor waiting for your boat.
You don't have to have an incentive to help other people. The action by itself is very fulfilling and satisfying. Your money will be invested in various projects, such as Free DVDs. And also if your looking for Car Donations look for Carangel.org .

Lav Diaz wins a second Venice filmfest award

Written by Ms. Confuse on Tuesday, September 16, 2008

Director Lav Diaz added another feather to his cap after his latest film Melancholia won the Best Film Award in the Orizzonti Section of the 65th Venice International Film Festival.

According to a report from Venice, the decision of the Orizzonti Jury (composed of Chantal, president; Nicole Brenez, Barbara Cupisti, Jose Luis Guerin, and Veiko Ounpuu) was unanimous.

The three runners-up are:

  • Below Sea Level by Gianfranco Rosi (Italy/USA), Doc Prize;
  • Un Lac by Philippe Grandrieux (France), Special Mention; and
  • Wo Men (We) by Huang Wenhai (China/Switzerland), also Special Mention.

No Filipino film competed for the Golden Lion, the top prize in the Main Section which was won by The Wrestler (USA), directed by Darren Aronofsky; and Russia’s Paper Soldier, directed by Aleksey German Jr., placing second (Silver Lion).

Chosen as closing film of the filmfest, Melancholia, which runs for almost eight hours and shot in various places in the Philippines, tries to explore the question of why there’s “so much sadness and so much madness” in this world, in the end finding no answer at all.

It stars Angeli Bayani, Perry Dizon, Roeder Camanag, Raul Arellano, Dante Perez, Malaya and Soliman Cruz.

It’s the second time for Diaz to have won an award at the VIFF. Last year, he won a Special Mention award for his nine-hour film Kagadanan Sa Banwaan Ning Mga Engkanto (Death in the Land of Enkantos) which depicts the death and desolation of the Bicol region after a killer typhoon.

The Venice International Film Festival was initially known as D Mostra Internazionale d’Arte Cinematografica di Venezia.

Born in 1958 in Datu Paglas, Maguindanao, an island in Mindanao, Diaz is recognized as “the ideological father of the New Philippine Film Movement,” noted for making films that run for hours, also including Batang West Side (2002), Ebolusyon ng Isang Pamilyang Pilipino (2005) and Heremias subtitled Ikalawang Alkat: Ang Alamat ng Prinsesang Bayawak (2006).

OFW remittances seen reaching $17B this year

Written by Ms. Confuse on Tuesday, September 16, 2008

The central bank, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), expects money remittances from overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to reach $17 billion this year, a new record high and topping the earlier BSP forecast.

BSP Governor Amando Tetangco Jr. also told reporters at the sidelines of an economic briefing in Congress that the country’s external accounts would sustain surpluses this year and next.

“Remittances will continue to be our source of inflows,” Tetangco said.

In the central bank’s earlier forecast, OFW remittances were expected to hit about $16.45 billion this year, up 10 percent from 2007 despite some fears that the US-led global slowdown could temper inflows. Of the total overseas remittances earlier projected for this year, about $15.89 billion was expected to be coursed through the banking system.

“We remain positive that the external accounts would still show a surplus in 2009,” Tetangco said in a separate e-mail, when asked about prospects for next year given the recent softening of global food and fuel prices.

For this year, the balance of payments is expected to post a surplus of $2.5 billion.

“We also expect that even as further slower growth in major economies hangs over us, the demand for our highly skilled and better paid overseas Filipino workers would not be severely affected,” Tetangco said.

Through the years, the Philippine banking system has made substantial progress in capturing remittance flows. Banks continue to provide expanded financial services to overseas Filipinos and their families through tie-ups with foreign financial institutions, establishment of remittance centers and marketing offices abroad, and stronger partnership with manning agencies.

The deployment of Filipino workers has not declined this year despite the looming US recession that is widely expected to create ripples across the globe. From a stop-gap measure initiated by the government to curb unemployment in the 1970s, overseas employment has developed into a vital industry generating foreign exchange exceeding foreign investment inflows for the Philippines.
OFW money remittances through the banking system have exceeded the $1 billion a month since May 2006.

Joe Bataan: A Legend in Latin Soul

Written by Ms. Confuse on Monday, September 15, 2008

HE’S often referred to as the “King of Latin Soul,” a musical legend raised in Spanish Harlem New York, who grew up around Puerto Rican gangs and actually learned to play music while serving time in prison.

Bataan Nitollano, better known as Joe Bataan, is a musical pioneer. In his illustrious career, he’s credited for being one of the innovators of SalSoul (Salsa and Latin Soul), Boogaloo, Latin Funk, Latin R&B, and Latin Jazz during the 1960’s and 70’s and produced one of the very first rap and R&B albums in 1980. His daughter, Asia Nitollano, won the television series Pussycat Dolls Present: The Search for the Next Doll. And University of Hawaii Professor Dr. Theodore S. Gonzalves has dedicated a class on the impact of Joe Bataan’s music, in "Joe Bataan’s Mestizo Soul" to his students. But few in the greater Filipino community know of this musical trailblazer. So when Joe Bataan and his band performed in front of a large Filipino gathering at the Filipino Performing Arts and Culture (FPAC) event in San Pedro last weekend, it was a homecoming for this legendary performer. "It’s great. I get my chance to see all the Pinoys and Pinays that I don’t get a chance to see back home in New York," said Bataan before his performance. "[FPAC organizer] Winston Emano is responsible for bringing me out here, helping me get a fan base of Asians and Filipinos that I never had. The Latinos, the Blacks, and the Anglos have followed me all over the world. Now, Asians and Filipinos can see one of their own even though I’m mestizo."

"Joe is a legend in Latin Soul music," added Emano, who brought Bataan to perform in his first ever FPAC in 2001. "He’s hugely popular worldwide in fact after performing here he’s going to Paris and he’s doing three sold out shows in France. He’s a gentleman that’s partly Filipino but only a few people knew." Born to a Filipino dad and African-American mother, Joe Bataan was a product of an interracial marriage during a time of extreme segregation. Growing up in New York was tough, he said. He mixed in with the wrong crowd, allegedly stole a car and spent time at a New York correctional facility. However, his time there was a blessing in disguise. A few months after being released, he formed Joe Bataan and the Latin Swingers and thus, began his recording career. Influenced by Latin boogaloo and doo-wop, he recorded his first album "Gypsy Woman" with Fania Records in 1967. He recorded eight more albums for the record group before founding his own record label, Ghetto Records.

By this time, Bataan was making a name for himself. His music was widely popular in the New York Latin scene. His music was different mostly because he sang English lyrics to Latin tunes. In the late 1970’s, Bataan made a big splash when he recorded "Rap-O Clap-O." Not very popular in the US, it was much more appreciated in Europe where the song went top 10 and accredited as the first rap song to make it big in the country. By the 1980’s, Bataan took time off to raise his family. He worked as a counselor and spoke to kids about his experience in the music industry. In 1995, he resurrected his music career. But it wasn’t until 2001, when he performed in front of a large Filipino crowd for the first time, said Emano. "I remember I saw him perform in New York in the late 1990’s and I was one of less than a handful of Filipinos in the crowd," recalls Emano. "When I found out that Joe was Filipino I had to bring him to FPAC." Bataan said he never hid where he came from. Many people in the music industry knew about the "Afro-Filipino" singing Latin soul in the 1960’s and 1970’s.

Bataan said that playing in front of a large crowd of Filipinos is especially gratifying in a more personal reason. "My father would have been proud," said Bataan. "My father was Filipino (from Manila) and I remember all the Filipinos would come to my house, [and] talk Tagalog. I didn’t understand it and my mother was Black. My father gave me information about the Philippines. He always wanted to go back home. He never got a chance to so I want to do that for him." He said performing in front of a large Filipino crowd gives him "a sense of belonging. It’s like you’re really coming home and it’s something that I missed out on for a great part of my life," he said. "It’s like I’ve been in the wilderness for so long. Growing up, I wasn’t totally accepted by the Latino population, I mean they supported me, but as far as being an integral part of that culture I wasn’t. I grew up around them; most of my friends are Latino. Then the Black situation, I was never considered totally black. "I know I’m never going to be considered totally Filipino but I am," he added. "I may look different but I got Filipino blood in me and you’re not going to change that." In a way, he said, it’s ironic that Filipinos are now embracing his career. "It must be for a reason God has something in store for me," he said.

Shop your electronics online

Written by Ms. Confuse on Sunday, September 14, 2008

Sometimes we need to buys something and we want to make sure we get the best deal. We can shop all around, looking from store to store, wasting time and gas. We can also shop from site to site. In this way we save gas, but it can still take a lot of time. Another option is to use a shopping comparison site that links to a bunch of different e-retailers.

As consumers we are always in search of good deals and best buy for everything that we purchase to get the most of what we paid for it. it is certainly not a good thing to buy a product because it is only cheap or bargain but we also need to consider it’s quality and durability.

Most of us are bargain hunters esp. us women, because shopping is always part of us. Don’t you agree girls? Anyway, I found Best Buys is great online shopping site where we can find on electronic items like video games, camcorders, music, cameras, television, car electronics, computers and a lot lot more. Christmas is also coming and I reckon it’s never too early to plan get lots of gift ideas. Visit Bestbuys.com

YouTube: Charice to sing with Celine Dion in Madison Square Garden

Written by Ms. Confuse on Saturday, September 13, 2008

Hi Charice. Hi sweetheart. I have to tell you that I am speechless, to start with--and it's not a good way to start--I have, hmm, I have heard you sing. I have seen some, a little bit of your life story. And I am extremely ecstatic like the rest of the world who is watching right now. I can tell you that we have lots of things in common. And I also had a mother, still have a mother, who is my strength. My passion I carry in my heart. And so my beauty. And David Foster, you cannot even think of finding somebody even better than that to bring the best out of you. You have more talent than most people."

These were the words of a mother with a seven-year-old son who spoke to 15-year-old Filipina singer Charice Pempengco during an episode of Oprah. Charice, who has been the toast of music lovers all over the world, has probably heard similar praise before. The difference is, the mother speaking via video conference from Washington, D.C. happens to be Celine Dion. The magical moment, the words, the shocked expression on Charice's face when she realizes it's Celine Dion talking to her, are all captured in a YouTube link sent to abs-cbnNEWS.com. It's all there at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AkLjVJOH41U But that's not all. Dion goes on with her message to Charice with even more good news for the young Filipina: "You can sing. You can speak and sing with your heart. You can play the guitar... And you can have dreams because your life story is quite a painful one. Thank God your strength comes from your mother and your heart will go on and I'm pretty sure of that. "And if I may I would love to propose something. I would love to do something very special with you. Next week, I'm gonna be singing at Madison Square Garden and I would love to ask you to come and sing a duet with me. And we can sing together. Maybe we can sing "Because You Loved Me", and maybe we can dedicate this song to your mother. So I hope you can travel and come in New York to meet with me," Dion told Charice.

According to www.oprah.com, Dion will perform at Madison Square Garden on September 15 and 16. (For the complete list of tour dates and venues go to this link: http://www.oprah.com/article/oprahshow/20080908_tows_celine)

Dream come true

Charice has met with a measure of international success but that moment with Dion is so far the peak experience for the former. Charice has always been open about her admiration for Dion, revealing that the very first song she learned to perform was the Canadian superstar's "My Heart Will Go On" which was the love theme of the Hollywood global blockbuster "Titanic". It wasn't exactly God speaking to Charice, but that was probably the closest the Filipina singer could get to a similar experience. This was Celine Dion inviting her to sing a duet in Madison Square Garden! No other Filipino singer has ever been bestowed with such an honor by a singer of such immense, global stature as Dion. Dion in her message also told Oprah, "You have somebody amazing", referring to the Filipina. Dion, who earlier told Charice that she could find no better person than David Foster to bring out her talent, then told Foster: "David, take good care of that girl."

Dion is currently on a worldwide tour and will perform in every major city in North America. Dion's Madison Square Garden performance is part of that tour--and now Charice has received a personal invitation from the superstar to sing there as well.

Under wraps
abs-cbnNEWS.com a few months ago already received unconfirmed reports that there were talks for Charice to perform with "somebody really, really big" in the musical firmament. However, there was no way to confirm if the news was true, nor the identity of the "really big" music superstar. All sources available to abs-cbnNEWS.com were keeping information about the talks very tightly under wraps. Until the YouTube links were emailed to abs-cbnNEWS.com by an alert reader. The Oprah episode did a substantial report about Charice, her career and the painful experiences in her life and her triumphs, including an exclusive performance with international tenor Andrea Bocelli in Tuscany. You can watch the report on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ii4jUSmFwUA Perhaps, this story of a young Filipina singer's success is just what we need to hear to make us feel better, especially with all the bad news coming to us about our Court of Appeals, which has begun to seem very unappealing by the day.

If only, like Charice, more of us could reach for better, loftier things for ourselves and our fellow Filipinos, at a time when even some supposedly honorable members of the judiciary seem to have become comfortable debasing themselves.

play, play, play

The world of online gambling has experienced serious growth in recent years. The leading contributor to this growth has been a noticeable spike in the popularity of online poker rooms.

Poker is the most popular game on the Internet – especially Texas holdem poker games. There are hundreds of millions of Internet sites that have something or other to do with poker. With so many poker rooms to choose from, it’s important that you take the time to carefully consider what makes an online poker room worth joining.

Before you join a particular poker room, do some homework. Read reviews from other players and compare and contrast the different features offered by different online poker sites. Also find some poker strategy sites that can give you more guide. You need to identify your specific poker needs before settling on a particular poker site.

Perhaps you just want to get some practice playing poker. Many online poker rooms offer play money games, tutorials and tips. It’s important that you take time to practice playing the game before you commit any of your money. You won’t learn the finer details of a winning poker strategy like implied odds and the independent chip model, study those topics in poker literature and test your skills online.

this is a problem consulted by my cousin just last week.."My Girl got on a phone chat line and and had phone sex with someone she did not know. This happened a couple of weeks ago when I was putting in long hours at work and she said me working 16 hours for 5 days had a lot to do with it she wants me to overlook this. We have been together a year and a half how do I get past this when its heavy on my mind and would any of you work this out. When I confronted her she blamed meThat wasn't phone sex cheating though was it. It was a service provided to get her off?" then i told himIF it was someone she'd met online and chatted with then rang them to get herself off, then YES that is cheating. Definitely. It's sneaky , deceptive and immoral.Maybe you should buy her some Porn DVDs and a rabbit for when you are out of the house. It more or less amounts to the same as ringing a pre-recorded chat line that talks dirty to you. You watch Porn do you? So why shouldn't she.anyway whe could also visit free phone sex phone sex site! and have a sex chat there!

Juan "Baby Bull" Diaz went for 12 rounds against Michael "The Great" Katsidis of Australia and was crowned new International Boxing Organization light

Written by Ms. Confuse on Thursday, September 11, 2008

Juan "Baby Bull" Diaz went for 12 rounds against Michael "The Great" Katsidis of Australia and was crowned new International Boxing Organization lightweight champion in their "No Retreat, No Surrender" main event clash Saturday (Sunday in Manila) at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. Ringside judge Gale Van Hoy scored the bout 116-112 while Levi Martinez had it 115-113, all in favor of the Houston fighter. Judge Glen Hamada, meanwhile, scored it 115-113 for Katsidis. Diaz was virtually unscathed throughout the fight. The Australian suffered a gash under the right eye and fought the remaining rounds with his right eye nearly closed after a barrage of punches from Diaz connected to the Australian's face.

Diaz now has 34 wins against a single loss with 17 victories coming by way of knockout. Katsidis, on the other hand, suffered his second loss in 23 fights. He has 20 KOs. Before the fight, “The Golden Boy” Oscar de La Hoya promised Katsidis that the judges chosen for his fight against hometown hero Diaz will be fair in their IBO lightweight title fight.

Katsidis assured of fair fight
De La Hoya reportedly stepped in to assure Katsidis of a fair shake when it was noted that two of the officials were Diaz’ fellow Texans. One of them is referee Laurence Cole, who was actually suspended earlier this year for telling a fighter he was ahead on points during a fight. During a final pre-fight press conference, the trainer/manager of Katsidis, Brendon Smith, said he wasn’t worried about who the officials were. Sports Nut, the Australian Web site quoted Smith as saying “the judges will be judged by the boxing fraternity and the millions of HBO viewers.”

Diaz is promoted by de La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions. According to Smith, the six-time world champion assured him that there would be no problems and that they were “very fair promoters and the Texas Commission was a very fair group.” Katsidis said earlier he was “a lion entering the lion’s den” in reference to Diaz who is from Houston and is certain to get the full backing of an expected crowd of 10,000 at the Toyota Center.

Bloody co-main event
In the card's co-main event, a bloody match blood spilled out of Argentina's Jorge Barrios as he went down the canvas following a right hook by Texas' Rocky Juarez in their World Boxing Organization Latino junior lightweight championship. Juarez, who fought out of the blue corner, knocked out Barrios 2:55 in the 11th round of the 12-rounder. The two fighters slugged it out most of the 11 rounds but in the end, it was clear that Juarez outclassed the visiting opponent. Juarez now has a win-loss record of 28-4 with 20 wins via knockout. Barrios, on the other hand, went down to 47-4 with 34 victories via KO. Earlier, Jesus "El Matador" Chavez stopped visiting Andres Ledesma of Colombia via technical knockout in the 9th round of their lightweight clash, also at the Toyota Center. Referee Bobby Gonzalez counted Ledesma out 42 seconds into the round following a right hook by Chavez. Chavez, of Austin, also floored Ledesma in the 7th round. With his win, Chavez improved his win-loss record to 44-4 with 31 victories coming by way of KO. Ledesma, meanwhile, dropped to 14-1-1 win-loss-draw slate. He has nine KOs.

Hotels in Rome

title: Hotels in Europe
Here is another blog entry about travelling. Many people I know love to travel around Europe. I remember uni friends who would save up money to backpack Europe during summer vacations or after graduation. My golf travels only took me to Europe once. I was priviledged to visit Belgium. It was a really good experience for me and I realized why some people are drawn to that part of the world (including my father). The buildings, the landscape (I got to visit a castle), the streets, the culture... just the whole feel of the place is so rich. Most of all you must plan ahead first before going other part of the world like Europe. First you have to make sure you have to reserve a hotel where you can stay in while exploring any parts of Europe. So, if you are planning to visit Europe you can go to FreeReservation.com to make Rome Hotels or Hotel Florence Resevation. If you are planning to vacation in Paris, they also have Bed and breakfast paris style. Experience the amazing feeling in going to Europe and let FreeReservation.com help you with booking and free reservations. There Customer Care Service will guide you throughout the reservation process.

Guide you to play

Written by Ms. Confuse on Monday, September 08, 2008

Hello everyone, i was actually looking for a online casino. While i was searching i happen to see a website. The name of the website is Gamblecraft.com. I've seen other online casino review websites for a number of times already and I'd have to say Gamblecraft.com is one of the best website about online casino guide. I've always said that casino game guides need to focus more on the visual. This means putting on attractive and nice graphics to catch the eyes of potential customers. Gamblecraft.com may not have fit the description but it presents a different motif of simplicity which also actually works. The overall visual feel is easy to the eyes. I thought the style of review presents a clear and simple view which works for every level of play and for majority of the players. What I would want to see though is a little attractive flash content to improve on the design because most people are visual and respond well to things that attract them at first impression. Making a little investment on the design can go a long way. In the niche that Gamblecraft.com is located in there is a large number of competing websites. It should pay in long term to invest on flashy designs even if it's just to catch people's attention. Still out of all the best Online Casinos guide sites I've come across so far, this one is in my top three. So the next time when you want to play in the online casino i want you guys to try with Gamblecraft.com. I guess the information provided is useful.

Iris Rañola wins Arizona Women's Billiard Tour

Written by Ms. Confuse on Sunday, September 07, 2008

Filipino cue artist Iris Rañola won the Arizona Women’s Billiard Tour stop in Tucson, Arizona by beating Emily Wilmoth of the US. A report posted on BilliardPhilippines.com said the Zamboanga native scored 7-6 against Wilmoth and came out as the top winner among 26 competitors. National coach Boyet Asonto said the two pool players battled each other to a 4-4 tie before Wilmoth called for a break. When they returned, Wilmoth surged ahead by two racks.

Rañola bounced back to take the next three and won the game. The Filipino pocketed the $500 top prize. Rañola defeated American Michelle Micik, 7-3, on her way to the finals. Wilmoth also beat Micik, 7-4, to arrange a titular showdown with the Filipino. The Filipino is coming off a runner-up finish in this year's WPBA US Open 9-Ball before competing in Arizona.

Pacquiao to undergo most grueling training vs De la Hoya

Written by Ms. Confuse on Saturday, September 06, 2008

World Boxing Council lightweight champion Manny Pacquiao is set to undergo perhaps the most grueling training in his boxing career for his December 6 fight against the much bigger ten-time world champion Oscar de la Hoya. The Filipino boxing champ said that prized coach Freddie Roach has already prepared their training strategy in anticipation of the mega-fight, which is slated to be held at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. “May ibang style at tactics na ipi-nrepare si Freddie Roach ara sa laban,” said Pacquiao. However, he declined to reveal their training plan to media citing that the fight is still months away. Pacquiao is expected to fly to the US this month to train at Roach’s Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles. He also said earlier that the de la Hoya bout will be his most difficult fight in his stellar career.

Roach, however, knows the kinks in de la Hoya's fighting style since he trained the fighter against Floyd Mayweather Jr. Mayweather Sr. out as de la Hoya’s trainer?
Coach Floyd Mayweather Sr., who was earlier tapped to train de la Hoya for a rematch versus Mayweather Jr., looks like he won't be involved in the De la Hoya-Pacquiao bout. A report posted on IronBoxing.com said, the trainer has not heard from de la Hoya since he fought Steve Forbes last May. “I haven’t spoken with Oscar since around the Steve Forbes fight. I got to do what I got to do. That’s good for myself and my family,” said Mayweather Sr. Mayweather Sr. was supposed to train de la Hoya against the younger Floyd. The fight, however, was cancelled when Mayweather Jr. decided to retire. Mayweather Sr. now trains IBO light welterweight champion Ricky “The Hitman” Hatton for his fight against IBF king Paulie Malignaggi on November 22. However, if de la Hoya decides to retain his services for a coaching job against Pacquiao, Mayweather Sr. said he would have to train the boxing star with Hatton. “We can all go to Big Bear and we can all work together. I’ll train both of them at different times and we’ll all learn from each other and we can all go on runs together,” he said.

My sweet tooth

Written by Ms. Confuse on Friday, September 05, 2008

When I was a small girl , I like candy very much. I wish every day I can eat candy and have a lot of stocks at my home. ha..ha..My mom told me not eat candy too much because my teeth would be broken..but I don't care...It is very funny...but I think all children must like candy too.
So now when I looked at this bulk rock candy site...the candy is still exciting me... because I see the old fashioned crystal Rock Candy on a stick and rock candy on strings or some call it rock candy suckers at this site. I read that this candy always begins with a crunch and ends with melted mouth-watering sweetness.
My favorite one is Rock Lolly Assorted, it is so beautiful on a stick and the taste is great. I see this one is so good if I buy it and send to others as a gift when I go to my friends house. Or it is great too if there are a birthday party for the kids . And I see that this product have a certified Kosher Parave under the strict supervision of OK laboratories. So this product is save for every children.

The windfall continues for the Philippine wushu team following the successful stint at the special demonstration event at the recently-concluded Beijing Olympics. Team member Willie Wang, 24, has so far had pocketed P6 million worth of bonuses for winning the gold medal in the nanquan or form event of the demonstration sport. He also received P5 million from Malacañang, aside from the P500,000 given by First Gentleman Jose Miguel Arroyo. Beverage giant San Miguel Corp. (SMC) also handed Wang a P500,000-check Wednesday as a tribute to his success. Asked what he is going to do with the money, Wang said, "Bibili naman ako laptop para sa sarili ko and cellphone para mamagamit ko’t makapag-Internet. Kasi minsan nag-iisa ako [kapag nasa-training]”.

SMC also awarded other members of the team who won medals in their respective events. Combat event silver medalist Mary Jane Estimar received P250,000, while bronze winners Marian Mariano and Benjie Rivera got P125,000 each. Despite their exclusion from the Olympics’ official medal tally count, the success of the national wushu team provided the country the much-needed consolation following the Philippines' failure to win a medal from official sporting events
