Half-Pinay half-German is Miss Limburg-Belgium

Written by Ms. Confuse on Thursday, July 31, 2008

Latin beauties may have dominated this year’s Miss Universe beauty pageant but in Belgium, it’s heartening to know that the beauty of a Filipina has taken the local pageant by storm.

In fact, half-Pinay, half-German, Princess Uhrig is one of the early favorites of the twenty finalists vying for Miss Limburg-Belgium beauty contest which will be held in September.

18-year-old Princess who stands 5 feet 7 inches, has already captured the eyes of the pageant’s official photographers. Apart from having a whistle-bait figure (37-27-37), she possesses an exotic beauty which is a far cry from the usual beauty of European women. Though Uhrig has been featured several times in the local newspaper for her unique beauty, this “kayumanggi” lass says she is more than proud of her multi-cultural background.

“My advantage of being half-Filipino, half-German is having an exotic beauty which I think is not common with other people. But for me, it’s my multi-cultural values which set me apart because these make me a better and stronger person”, she said in an interview with ABS-CBN Europe News Bureau. Princess’ mom, Asuncion Besana-Uhrig, hails from Negros Oriental while her dad is German. Despite being born and raised in Belgium, Princess points out she’s incomparable with other European teenagers.

“My parents, especially my mother taught me the Filipino values and culture such as being respectful, hospitable and helpful which I apply in my daily life, in school and with my friends”, she said. For her, winning the contest is not “the name of the game”. Bringing pride to fellow Filipinos is what matters most to her. “To my Filipino kababayan, I will try to do my best to win this contest and I hope I can give pride to my country “, she said.

For those in Belgium who would like to support Princess Uhrig, text ML 07 and send to 3378.Raquel Bernal-Crisostomo

Oscar wants Manny at 147

Written by Ms. Confuse on Wednesday, July 30, 2008

It’s 147 lbs or nothing.

Eric Gomez, vice president of Golden Boy Promotions, said Oscar dela Hoya won’t settle for anything lower than 147 lbs as the official weight of a possible showdown with Manny Pacquiao in December. “It will have to be at 147 — nothing more, nothing less,” said Gomez who was in the town recently. The statement sends a signal to the Pacquiao camp that if they’re thinking of luring Dela Hoya to a weight lower than 147 lbs, probably at 145 lbs, they should think again.

Gomez also said, “145 is out of the question.” Dela Hoya, according to Gomez, can no longer make it at 145 lbs, considering that he has fought his recent fights at 150 lbs or at light-middleweight.Dela Hoya will have to sacrifice a lot just to make 147 lbs, and a give the fight that a lot of people are hoping to see a chance. An Internet report said an announcement would come out in 10 days. "don’t think Oscar can make 145 anymore,” said Gomez.

Pacquiao said he’s willing to face Dela Hoya at 147 lbs but said he might show up for the official weigh-in at 142 lbs and climb the ring for the fight not heavier than 149 lbs. Reports said Pacquiao has been offered $10 million as a guaranteed purse, and a couple million more in pay-per-view shares. The Pinoy camp will surely ask for more. Negotiations for a dream fight between Dela Hoya and Pacquiao are on, and should pick up speed when the Filipino champion arrives in the US. He was scheduled to leave last night.

Pacquiao’s legal counsel, Jeng Gacal, is already in the US to clear the road, and a meeting between the Filipino champion and his chief trainer, Freddie Roach, is set as soon as possible. Pacquiao’s promoter, Bob Arum, is working hard for the fight to push through, and has been dealing with Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaeffer. “Bob Arum is working it out with Richard Schaeffer who’s on vacation and he gets back on the 30th,” said Gomez of the GBP official who is in France vacationing with his family. “When Richard comes back they’ll continue discussions although there’s already been some talks,” Gomez said. ~Abac Cordero

Thirteen-year-old Filipino Catherine Loria from Tiaong, Quezon shared honors with senior contestant Andrew Clarke from Jamaica when they were proclaimed Grand Champion Performers of the World in the 2008 World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) or the Hollywood Olympics.

The grand finals night, held at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel saw Loria duplicating fellow Filipino singer Aria Clemente’s feat last year. She bested Tippy dos Santos and Rachel Razon, junior vocalists also from the Philippines; Courtney Mary Janssen from New Zealand and Oleksandr Chernenko from the Ukraine.

Loria performed five vocal entries in the preliminary round namely Broadway, Country and Western, Gospel, Pop and R&B/Soul/Jazz. She sang the solo version of Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston's “When you Believe” in the semi-final round.

Loria's victory made her the third Grand Champion Performer of the World from the Philippines after Jed Madela in 2005 and Aria Clemente in 2007. Both Jed and Aria performed in the opening and closing ceremonies of 2008 WCOPA.

Actor and classical singer Clarke beat senior vocalists Marielle Corpuz from the Philippines, Noryn Aziz from Malaysia and Nataly Gordienco from Moldova. Clarke also received $10,000 in scholarship awarded by the School for Film and Television in New York.

Muay Thai champs defend titles

Written by Ms. Confuse on Saturday, July 26, 2008

This weekend, Filipino American prizefighters climb up the ring to try to sustain the euphoric blaze of glory that compatriot Manny Pacquiao ushered here last month in winning a 4th world professional boxing crown. On Saturday, the spotlight focuses on Muay Thai world champions Michael Mananquil, 26, and Christine Toledo, 30, as they fight equally top-rated opponents at the Hilton Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada.

Mananquil (15-1-1, 8 KOs), who fights in the welterweight and super-welterweight (145-150lbs) divisions, duals with 9th ranked Daiki Koshio of Japan the main event of an evening of topnotch match-ups under Dennis Warner's promotions outfit. "Originally I was scheduled to fight Edmond Tarverdyan, U.S. Muay Thai Champion," Mananquil, a student at the City College of San Francisco and son of a native Caviteno and Japanese/Korean, told Philippine News. "My oppponent was switched to (Daiki) Koshio, ranked number 9 in the world. According to statistics, he is better fighter. I am training extremely hard for this fight. Come the day of the fight, I will be ready."

Mananquil actively trains and competes under he instruction of Kru Sam Phimsoutham at World Team USA in San Francisco in the last 11 years. "My teammates, my gym and Kru Sam are my motivating factors. I don;t want to let them down," he adds. Toledo (12-2-0), who recently beat top-ranked Emily Beardon in New York, is pitted against England's Ruth Ashdown, the reigning British Muay Thai champion. Toledo competes in the bantamweight and featherweight divisions (112-118 lbs).

"My opponent is an A class fighter from the U.K. Training to fight her isn't easy, but I'm pushing my limits and giving everything I can," says the WKA-U.S. and MTIA World titleholder and Las Vegas resident. "I just fought last month in New York and won. I feel ready to go it again, but this time in my hometown. I'm training harder than I did for the last fight because I don't want to give her a chance to take the victory home with her."

"Christine really commits herself to training and delivers the best she can. She acknowledges that she isn't perfect. After every fight, she realizes that there is always room for improvement and so much more to learn. That's what makes her a great person and fighter," Anthony Badua, Toledo's Filipino trainer, said. Two other Filipino Muay Thai fighters - Romie Adanza and Shane Del Rosario - are on the undercard.

Muay Thai is the national martial art and self-defense system of Thailand known for its eight devastating weapon-like kicks, elbow strikes, knees and punches. The art is also known by other names in Southeast Asia such as, Pradal Serey in Cambodia, Lethwie in Myanmar, Tomoi in Malaysia, and Muay Lao in Laos.

As part of the global response to sport martial arts, Muay Thai and new forms of competition like Ultimate Fighting, have gained a more pronounced mainstream acceptance and media exposure in the last decade. Ultimate Fighting Championship matches are current high-profile cable channel fares and main drawers in this city. PN. Pasckie Pascua. Photo by Womenkickboxing.com

Pacquiao to carry RP flag in Beijing Olympics

Written by Ms. Confuse on Saturday, July 26, 2008

Add Olympics flag-bearer to Manny Pacquiaos mythical resume. This as the Beijing Olympics organizers gave way to the the Philippine Olympic Committee's request to make Pacquiao the country's lead man in the Olympics' opening ceremonies in August 8.

US President George W. Bush, President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and leaders will be at the opening ceremonies themselves to boost their respective country's athletes.

The accreditation ID will be given to Pacquiao as soon as he arrives in Beijing, paving the way for landmark designation that will see a non-participating Olympian assuming the prestigious role, according to GMA News report.

next generation students!

Written by Ms. Confuse on Thursday, July 24, 2008

My university has been heavily commercialized nowadays. It is very difficult for students coming from even middle class families to complete tertiary education without institutional help. But sometimes the socialized tuition fee, student loans and other university scholarships are just a hassle to apply at and there is no guarantee that one could get considered. Some qualifications are also quite difficult to satisfy. Sometimes private loans are easier to avail of so long as these college loans provide good and equitable conditions. Education is the key for this world to step on the first ledge of development; these private student loans give us the opportunity to finish our education and I am just hoping that most of them aren’t just purely after profit, but also after helping out the next generation of students. shipping boxes?

Written by Ms. Confuse on Tuesday, July 22, 2008

shipping boxes from sheets of dbl. wall cardboard? I have had to do a lot of crating and packaging, and the way I learned was to disassemble a cardboard box and learn how it was made. I form corners by cutting through one layer of the cardboard on the side that faces out; it will bend perfectly that way. Try to keep your packaging as small as possible since most shippers charge by dimensional weight (not just the weight, but the overall size of the box).

refresh your skills!

Written by Ms. Confuse on Monday, July 21, 2008

When I was in college, writing a thesis proposal has been the most difficult. I really do not want to go back to those times. There was the pressure, the pimples, the zits, and everything that could sprout like mushrooms on my face. Well, not to mention the sleepless and restless nights of conceptualizing for the Research Paper Writing and for the actual research on a particular site. The surveys. But I do not really want to settle for less. Having a bachelor’s degree would not cut in this very competitive world so I think I am pursuing master’s. There is a general worry though that some knowledge has been forgotten during the hiatus period from undergraduate moments to graduate studies. The good thing is if you are unsure of what to do for your master’s dissertation, you can always consult researchpaperblog.com, which offers us the chance to refresh our skills on writing quality research papers. It also can aid in finding the right topic for you. It has a list of good and available Research Paper Topics, tips and general rules of writing, and of course a Sample Research Paper.

flash drive troubleshoot

Written by Ms. Confuse on Monday, July 21, 2008

need help in formatting flash drive? Does it work on any other computers? That would be the first thing I would check, it could be a bad pen drive, if it does work however then It may be your usb port. there are two different types. USB1 and USB2, Most pen drives require USB2 to work correctly.
Try pluging it into a different USB slot where you have something plugged in that you know works. If the pen is broken then the usb port is likely not recognizing it.

If your ports are USB2, and you cannot format the pendrive it may be that windows' format utility is unable to, I would check the website of the pen drive manufacturer and see if they have a specific utility to format the pendrive, I had that trouble once a couple years back and the company had a special format utility I had to download to be able to format mine.

mitral valve

Written by Ms. Confuse on Saturday, July 19, 2008

After arriving from Korea, I really became really health conscious. When I was there I seldom eat red meat for it is widely held that eating too much red would number one fatten you (and Koreans generally do not like a body that could support an entire civilization), would disrupt the balance of you chi, and of course would cause different ailments. Before I going to the airport in the day of my arrival, I bought tons of green tea, bamboo tea, rice tea, and assortment of teas. I am afraid that going back to my red meat diet would in the future cause health problems. The most traitorous of all is heart attack. I was researching for medical breakthroughs on heart treatment when I came across www.umm.edu which is University of Maryland Medical Center. They specialize in the treatment of the mitral valve, the part of the human heart that is responsible for the main pumping chamber of the heart, the left ventricle. People who have heart problems could now avail of an affordable and quality mitral valve surgery instead of mitral valve replacement. mitral valve repair has been realized to become a more advantageous alternative to mitral valve replacement. If you have heart problems, get a scan now as early as possible

baby clothes problem?

Written by Ms. Confuse on Saturday, July 19, 2008

1) For berry stains, dunk just the stained part in boiling water, believe it or not. The stain is gone as though it had never been. (I could hardly believe it until I tried it, but it's true!)

2) Other stains, I usually soak and then pre-treat according to directions on the label.

3) If it goes through the dryer, it's set forever.

4) Avoid the problem as much as possible. baby clothes you honestly don't care that much about (second-hand stores are awesome) and use bibs when the baby is wearing clothes you do care about. I used to have my little ones wear nothing but diapers and a bib when they were in their high chairs to eat--much easier clean up and everyone is happy (if the house is warm enough!).

If you are engaged in a business, especially if you are the owner or the administrator, there is a real need for you to strike a balance between employee privacy and company ends. Especially if you are in a logistics company, GPS Tracking systems would be indispensable. Attach GPS Tracking system to the delivery vans so you can assure that they’re delivering things on time. Attach GPS tracking system to mobile employees so you will know that they are not soldiering. Also GPS Trackingg systems are used for security purposes. This is an indispensable tool for anyone who’d like to trade a bit of privacy to safety.

xd card

Written by Ms. Confuse on Friday, July 18, 2008

how many photos can a xd picture card? This is a very common beginners mistake because you get trapped into the worry of carrying extra cards. You should be able to buy cards pretty cheaply. If you don't want to carry a lot of cards, get two or three that are 2 gigabyte (2 GB) or 4 GB. If you change your settings to get more pictures on the card, what you are doing is LOWERING the QUALITY and SIZE of each picture. A photo at a certain size will have a particular number of pixels in it. That will take up a certain amount of space on the card. The only way to put more pictures on the card is the make the files smaller, and thus lower quality (fewer pixels). Pixels are the data the card holds. When you take a photo, you ALWAYS want to take it at the highest/best setting on your camera: it may give you choices like Small Medium and Large and/or Low Good Fine SuperFine. If you have both types of settings available, always choose the Large file and the SuperFine setting.

The reason you want to do this is when you download and process your pictures, if they are all small files/low quality they won't look very good. You won't be able to get them printed very big if you choose to print them, and they will be blurry or fuzzy.

You can always make a big/high resolution (high quality) photo smaller, but you can't make a small, low resolution photo bigger.

You can get little "card wallets" from almost any camera store in which to store your cards and carry them with you. They will fit nicely in a purse or pocket, or in a camera case if you have one.

Believe me, you will be a lot happier with your photos if you don't make the mistake of trying to cram as many images as possible on a card.

Binibining Pilipinas Jennifer Barrientos is currently in Vietnam for the 57th annual Miss Universe beauty pageant, confident she’ll bring home the crown on July 14.

“I know I will win,” Barrientos told members of the press during her send-off party at the posh Mandarin Oriental Suites at the Gateway Mall in Quezon City. The 5-foot-8 University of Sto. Tomas Tourism graduate declared she still possessed the same confidence that helped make her Bb. Pilipinas victory possible.

Barrientos, 22, stole the show from heavy favorites in the local pageant last March, winning the coveted title even if she had not won any special awards. Pre-pageant favorite Danielle Castaño, who bagged the lion’s share of awards, finished second.

Unperturbed

There are also early favorites in the Miss Universe contest, with Latin American candidates who trained months ahead of Barrientos topping pre-pageant polls. But Barrientos said she remained unperturbed, as she had made the necessary preparations.

She was not sent to Colombia for beauty pageant workshops like her predecessors. But she had hair and makeup sessions with David’s Salon, foreign language training with Berlitz, personality development courses with Dale Carnegie, and dance lessons with Powerdance artistic director Douglas Nierras. The German ambassador’s Vietnamese wife taught Barrientos how to converse with the locals in Vietnam. And her preparations still included a Colombia-patterned training designed for international tilts.

Binibining Pilipinas Karen Agustin, who trained in Colombia for the 2002 Miss Universe, gave Barrientos a sample of “Pasarela” or catwalk lessons. Colombia-trained queens Lia Andrea Ramos and Gionna Cabrera, Miss International 2005 Precious Lara Quigaman and Binibining Pilipinas-International Nadia Lee

Reynaldo Alejandro - Author of a Filipino book

Written by Ms. Confuse on Wednesday, July 16, 2008

Reynaldo “Ronnie” Alejandro is ostensibly known for two things -- dancing and cooking. According to Filipinorecipeslink.com, Ronnie is a noted cook, caterer, dancer, choreographer and author. Indeed, he is a man of many facets.

But perhaps, one thing truly remarkable about Ronnie is that he has written several books about food -- Philippine Cookbook, Flavor of Asia and Restaurant Design and co-authored The Food of the Philippines: Authentic Recipes from the Pearl of the Orient with Corazon S. Alvina, Doreen G. Fernandez and Millie Reyes.

Ronnie’s articles have also been featured in several publications including The New York Times, Food and Wine Magazine, Mabuhay Magazine to name a few.

In Philippine Cookbook, Ronnie adapts Filipino cuisine to the specifi c requirements of America’s kitchen. "In it you’ll fi nd adobo—a rich, marinated stew of chicken or pork, succulently flavored with vinegar and soy sauce; pancit guisado—sauteed noodles laced with crunchy vegetables, thinly sliced sausage and baby shrimp; estofado, prepared with burnt-sugar sauce; and ginataan, meat prepared with coconut milk. If you’re looking for a whole new array of tastes and textures in appetizers, rice, meat, fish entrees, noodles and vegetarian dishes, salads, condiments and desserts, you’ll find your palate wonderfully stimulated by The Philippine Cookbook," says Filipinorecipeslink.com.

Ronnie’s expertise and knowledge in Philippine cuisine authoritatively refl ects in his writing. "Philippine cooking is surprisingly simple; no special utensils are needed. Even a wok, which is commonly used in the Philippines and is almost essential for Chinese cooking, can be done without for most Philippines dishes.

No special skills are needed, either. If you can prepare American dishes, you can prepare the food of the Philippines. In fact, most of the dishes that follow are either sauteed or stewed. Other dishes are boiled, braised or fried. Baked dishes are rare, which is perfectly sensible for a tropical cuisine,"he said in his book, Philippine Cookbook.

Even the availability of ingredients in the US market for most Filipino dishes are thoroughly discussed in this book.

The Philippine Cookbook and other books by Reynaldo Alejandro are available in Amazon.com. AJ

chilling.....

Buyers should be wise at buying stuff, especially when one’s is buying expensive items like electronic appliances. If you are looking for refrigerators, you can visit wize.com where you can find the web’s best. The website lists the top refrigerator brands based on web users’ feedback on the refrigerators’ durability, usability, and general function. I think this website is the best place to go for canvassing good quality refrigerators. You will not just find good buys but also you will gain a bird’s eye view of all available refrigerators. The website indicates the specific function of available refrigerators whether they are good for the kitchen, specialized for chefs’ use, excellent for chilling Kimchi, or whatever.

childs happiness

Written by Ms. Confuse on Tuesday, July 15, 2008

Nothing has been more important to me than seeing my baby enjoy this stage of his life. I make sure that he has a good “hot-house” where he could play safely and enjoy his toys in his toddlerhood. In Shopwiki, I was able to find good buys of baby and toddler items like children’s toys, things for maintaining hygiene, nursing bottles, high chairs, and other nursery and toddler furniture. Like I said, I have never been so unselfish in my life that now I find happiness when I buy things for my child. Shopwiki is a good place to buy things as the products are quite nice and are very affordable.

here i am vegas!

Written by Ms. Confuse on Monday, July 14, 2008

Vegas vacations? Well, I live here... so it's kind of a love/hate sorta relationship, lol.

My favorite thing about Las Vegas is actually the wonderful hiking opportunities nearby. I spend way more time at Red Rock Canyon, Valley of Fire, and Mt. Charleston than I do on the strip.

And of course I don't gamble, 'cuz that's a baaaaaaaaad idea when you live here =).

I take advantage of the casino attractions whenever friends/family come to town. My favorite hotel is still the Bellagio, for visiting... the atrium garden, water fountain show, and art gallery there never fail to impress me. As far as a favorite hotel to stay at, I have heard only good things about the all-suite THEhotel tower at Mandalay Bay. People who stay there once never sesem to want to stay anywhere else again.

bad credit repair

Written by Ms. Confuse on Sunday, July 13, 2008

need a Bad Credit Repair? im not really an expert but base on what i have read you can Repair Credit by paying off or catch up all past due collection accounts and any revolving accounts you do still have out, make sure you make your payments on time. For the most part, it doesn't matter what country you're in. The only thing that can improve your credit rating is time and better credit history. Make your payments on time. Make extra payments when possible. Call your creditors to see if they can help you by lowering your interest rates and refinancing loans for a lower cost. My husband and I had BAD credit, and this was the only thing that could help. If you file for a bankruptcy, that will be on your credit for several years and will look worse to possible creditors than the fact that you are trying to dig yourself out on your own. You made the mess, no you have to clean it up. I know it sucks, but it's true. Make sure you keep accurate records so that when you finally pay a bill off, you can contact the credit bureaus with that information and get the bad info off quickly. We did this and we were able to buy a home, a new car, and a motorcycle within a year and a half! for more info about Credit Repair Services visit repairyourbadcredit.com Good luck!

Jasper Garvida - Filipino designer wins in London

Written by Ms. Confuse on Friday, July 11, 2008

It is always a happy occasion when one chances upon a winner, and an even happier occasion when that winner happens to be a Filipino.

Jasper Garvida is a 31-year-old Filipino-Canadian (dual citizenship) who won a hotly contested reality competition over Sky One Television prime-time known as Project Catwalk in London.

The show, now on its 12th year, gives 12 talented fashion designers (chosen from some 3,000 applicants) the opportunity of a lifetime—a chance to have their collection shown at the prestigious London Fashion Week.

After nine grueling weeks of various challenges, three remaining finalists are made to create a 12-piece women’s wear collection on the final week.

Each of the three finalists are given £5,000 to purchase all necessary materials including fabric, accessories and additional labor components. They are also taken to a place of their choice whose architecture, atmosphere, colors and history are expected to inspire their final collection.

The judges faced a very tough decision, but Garvida’s talent, flair for detail and passion shone through. He won an exclusive deal with online style boutique Oli, a £25,000 cash prize, as well as a spread in Grazia—the iconic, world-renowned fashion magazine covering top designers and trends.

Oli.co.uk is fast becoming a leading name in fashion, forming major partnerships with top designers such as PPQ, Jasmine Guinness, Thomas Vicary and OnIOff Boutique. Oli offers 20 new lines each week.

Reaping success

At the time of our visit to London and Garvida’s atelier, it was obvious he was already reaping the fruits of his achievement. He was rushing from one appointment to another, finishing commissioned clothes, working to complete his 12 designs for a capsule collection for Oli and 50 pieces more for a Menswear boutique in Regensburg, Germany near Munich, and he had just been called by Michael Caine’s wife Shakira to do some clothes for her.

He has done pictorials for Draper’s Magazine, his creations have been featured on television shows, and he’s been fielding press interviews.

“I am really a very private person, and some of the demands of the trade I really don’t like,” he confessed. But he is mature enough to acknowledge that some things come with the career he has chosen, and that they are important if he is to reach more people.

All sorts of invitations and inquiries are now at his doorstep that he has had to hire a secretary, a PR person, and student designers who go on internship with him just as he did after graduation from Central Saint Martins in 2004.

Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, created in 1989, remains one of London’s most revered art institutions, with strong research and teaching departments in Fine Arts, Fashion, Graphics, 3D design and Performance. It has produced the likes of Gilbert and George, Richard Long, Jeff Banks—designer and presenter of BBC’s The Clothes Show, 007 Pierce Brosnan and fashion designer Paul Smith.

As a young boy of Ilocano parents growing up in a house in Project 4, Quezon City, Garvida was already into designing clothes. When he was 12, his parents migrated to Canada, but he had that nagging dream to study at Central Saint Martins, which he says is every fashion designer’s desire.

Undaunted by the fact that the school has 7,000 applicants each year and that its standards were so strict that acceptance would be difficult, Garvida sent out his application and in three weeks received a positive response. At 19, he left Canada for London.

Garvida’s parents are very proud of their son. His mom was present during the finals of the competition, and Garvida has given her half of his prize money to start a new business in Toronto. He also hopes to visit the Philippines and hold a show here.

Revelation

Garvida’s talent for designing was first noticed when his graduation collection for Central Saint Martins, which centered on fantasy, was reviewed by The Telegraph’s Hilary Alexander as “a dazzling debut.”

The young designer then went on to sell pieces all over the world to various influential people and boutiques such as Nicola Formachetti, Fashion Editor of Dazed and Confused magazine; Kokon To Zai boutique in London; Side By Side boutique in Tokyo; Quartier Gallery and Boutique in Vienna; Museum Dusseldorf in Düsseldorf, Germany.

To date, international press coverage of Garvida include features in I-D Magazine, Dazed & Confused Magazine, V magazine, La Republica Moda, Vivid, 34 Magazine, Evening Standard and The Telegraph.

Garvida said his style has developed through the years. “I used to be outlandish, but during the last four years, I have matured, although my clothes still have that element of fantasy plus a lot of intricate attention to detail.”

After serving as Head Designer for Michiko Koshino Couture, he decided he was ready to go solo. His current look is inspired by surrealism, based on images of Salvador Dali’s wife Gala. The collection reinvents classic shapes, meticulously put together using a rich range of materials from feathers and sequins to glass beads and exotic shells.

“It’s a highly wearable High Street version of the clothes that I designed for the Project Catwalk finals,” he explained.

What comes next after all the buzz created by Project Catwalk? The next five years, said Garvida, will be devoted to further honing his craft, participating in the London Fashion Week.

And after that? “After five years, I will be in Paris,” he said with a confident smile.

I discover shes a Filipina by Youtube. She got my attention because of her very nice voice and most of all the combination of her dancing. Yup, she can dance too. I know someday she gonna get it to top with that talent. She sounds like Rihanna but for me shes more better than her, I'm not comparing or anything it just she's more for me. This link is another video of her "Can't Keep Running". I wish for the best for this girl, can't wait to hear her on the radio.

what can we do with our office supplies :P

Written by Ms. Confuse on Tuesday, July 01, 2008

How can you build a windmill with office supplies?Convert wind energy into mechanical energy, tap the mechanical energy thus produced to generate electricity.

Supplies:
- Chart paper for wings
- Punching machine for holes
- a spoke and pin to assemble the mechanical unit
Either but a dynamo from a market or use an old motor of a small walk man or similar appliance. The smaller the motor, higher the success chances. Also get a small torch bulb to showcase the electricity produced.

How to:

- Fix the axis or motor on the spoke of the windmill
- Take two electrical wires and connect (solder) the one ends to the motor and the other respective ends to the torch bulb.

When there is wind (which you can produce artificially using a table fan) the windmill with rotate, resulting in the motor to rotate and the reverse current should be sufficient to glow the bulb.
