Pacquiao to carry RP flag in Beijing Olympics
Written by Ms. Confuse on Saturday, July 26, 2008
Add Olympics flag-bearer to Manny Pacquiaos mythical resume. This as the Beijing Olympics organizers gave way to the the Philippine Olympic Committee's request to make Pacquiao the country's lead man in the Olympics' opening ceremonies in August 8.
US President George W. Bush, President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and leaders will be at the opening ceremonies themselves to boost their respective country's athletes.
The accreditation ID will be given to Pacquiao as soon as he arrives in Beijing, paving the way for landmark designation that will see a non-participating Olympian assuming the prestigious role, according to GMA News report.

It was a lousy decision by the POC. All the other countries had present or former Olympians carrying their flag. Pacquiao has not been and never will be an Olympian. This is sending the wrong message to our athletes, that they are not good enough to deserve the honor to carry our flag. As usual, Philippines sports is mixed up with politics.
