The word blog is short for web log. Blogs can be used as an online diary or journal. They are an easy way of publishing content online due to their easy content management systems. There are two kinds of blogging, personal and business. Over the past year, blogs have become popular with businesses, they are no longer just a simple web diary. Blogs are useful to businesses because of the potential for search engine marketing. A business can ask members of staff to regularly add posts to their staff blog. The posts are not general diary entries for the members of staff, but, for example, useful tips on using the businesses products. Content is added regularly to the staff blogs which the search engines index. This means that a user who is searching for information on a particular product is more likely to find details on your product because you have a portfolio of blog pages indexed by the search engines discussing your product and its various uses. As well as the search engine benefits, these product blog information pages can be a valuable resource to the businesses customers as they provide an additional level of support.
